Description
LL-37 is a naturally occurring human, host defense Peptide derived from cathelicidin protien. It plays an important role in combating bacteria, viruses, and fungi, while also modulating inflammatory responses and accelerating tissue repair.
Antimicrobial Activity: LL-37 directly disrupts the cell membranes of pathogens and prevents the formation of antibiotic-resistant biofilms.
Immune Modulation: It helps recruit key immune cells (like neutrophils and monocytes) to infection sites and regulates pro- and anti-inflammatory pathways.
Wound Healing: It is a vital protein for re-epithelialization—the process of closing and healing skin wounds.
Because of its unique ability to penetrate cell membranes and regulate immunity, LL-37 is heavily studied in clinical research and therapeutic applications regarding resistant infections, chronic ulcers, and inflammation management.
